When you pay our property taxes you can call us noisy. It's about run it's course anyway. Ever since the Stephani's have taken over control of the "event", it has gone down hill. They are shuttling the everyday people into a small area, hoping people will pay to sit in the poorly constructed bleacher seats that you can't even get to. Then they set up party tents with fences and tarps around them so that you can't see the parade at all. Which I might add are mostly empty considering that corporations aren't funding them anymore. It was a much better "community" event when you had access to the parade route. Now alot of people show up and can't view the parade, end up getting drunk and then pee where they want and start fights. Not to mention, the people who live along the route have a hard time getting to and from their own homes! Forget trying to get out to go to work on parade day and forget about trying to cross Bayshore two weeks prior to the parades. (Plural because the childrens parade is held there also. Which I might add is better than the actual parade.) I am not against them holding the event. I am against them holding a "Community" event that the "Community" really can no longer enjoy. So dreaming, if you would be so kind, let us have your address and we will send all of the drunks that pee in our yard and walk into our homes uninvited on over to your place! We'll even pay for the cab fare!

considering that gasparilla has been held on bayshore blvd for, what, 100 years, and that people have been watering the bushes along there during the parade for 100 years, and that all the mansions and lawns and gardens are just fine before, during and after every parade, then i see no need to move the thing.

this is just some noise by a few overprivileged people who are best ignored.

its only once a year. get over it.

You need to do your math and learn that $3600 could not cover a million dollar mortgage. Also take into consideration you need staff to work the garage, and you also need to purchase the land to put the parking garage on. A $1,000,000 business mortgage is around $9,000 a month not $3,600.

I sense sarcasim in your statement: "Don't forget to thank...." I am actually grateful to them for pushing this issue. I guarentee if they don't have places to park they will still find ways to make it to Howard Ave. preferrably in a cab! Majority of those that frequent the area on a Fri or Sat are drinking anyways and have no business driving. Cab use needs to become more frequent...McDintons has the right idea by having a cab station easily accessible for patrons. Thanks city council for finally doing something to address this issue.

This area is totally going downhill because of Ortiz and those Daily Eats/Lime bastards. When will people understand that having our neighborhood bought up by fat, uncaring restaurant owners is embarrassing.

ATTN: Non-residential Business and property owners in SOHO / Oscawana. I own a commercial building on South Howard and when I went to join the officially recognized neighborhood association at their first meeting at Kate Jackson, I was told that I could not vote because I was not a resident and only a property and business owner. Somehow the "not in my backyard" homeowners highjacked this organization and now have the kind of access and influence to city council that results in rules like the SOHO Parking Plan.

According to the city the Courier City/Oscawana Neighborhood Association is "inactive" and only the Courier City/Oscawana Resident Homeowner Association, Inc. exists.

If we cannot join and vote in our own neighborhood association, then we deserve our own. Other interested property and business owners please contact me and lets get some representation now. Let's bring back the true, all-inclusive, neighborhood association that includes ALL of the neighbors.
