Taste events have become very popular. The plan is simple: select a great nonprofit or two, find a great location, get a bunch of community minded restaurants to contribute staff and food samples, get some free beer/wine donated, provide some music, and promote it - what an event.
While that might sound sort of easy, it takes lots more than that. For the second year one of South Tampa's best volunteer committees put together an event for over 1,000 particpants. The benefiting groups were the Tampa Humane Society, Meals on Wheels and the Spring. Held at Old Hyde Park Village, over 20 restaurants particpated in helping to make the event a success. The New Red House Grill was there along with Whaley's, MacDinton's, Chipolte, and more. Total Wine provided lots of wine for the VIP tent. The event is sponsored by the South Tampa Chamber of Commerce and Chaired by Chris Bruser. Special thanks must be given to all involved, but as of 2 pm, the beer from Pepin Distributing had still not arrived, but the committee triumphed with replacements and most participants didn't notice. Great Job Everyone !
